Recently, when I was traveling in the U.S., I encountered(맞닥뜨리다) an interesting airport security measure(조치, 수단) that I had never seen before. Called 3D body scanners, they have been introduced at airports in Los Angeles and New York in order to improve passenger safety. Using a technology called wave imaging, the scanners search for weapons and explosives. They do this by creating a 3D images of a person's body. By "seeing through" passengers' clothes in this way, security personnel are able to tell whether they are hiding anything dangerous. This type of imaging device is not new, but it has not yet been made a standard security tool at airports. I think it should be. Passengers will surely prefer being digitally scanned rather than being searched by a security guard.
